Fading Waves

When did we grow up?
Where has the time gone by?
Too quickly, too sudden…
We were wishing to grow up,
Now realizing that we want to go back…

Time keeps ticking,
Days keep passing…
A world that never sleeps,
A world that never rests…

For a moment, I wish it all paused…
We lingered in the stillness,
And took a good look at ourselves,
Of who we are, of where we are,
Of what we really became…

What we were became a dream,
Shattered echoes, cascading through the lights…
A connection we had,
Extinguished for greed…

Lost in the bright lights,
Faster than our thoughts…
Sucked into a world,
Shying away from reality…

Captured in the moment,
Lost in thought,
Afraid to look in the mirror,
We turned away, and simply forgot…

We taught ourselves to vanish,
To disappear in the noise…
Fragmented, fading behind the light,
Became shadows in the dark,
Quieted down, without a voice…

Stuck in our ways,
Unable to change…
Rather let the vision blind,
And suffocate in our dreams…

The alarms will go off,
Wake us up to the reality…
Finally, slap us back to the truth,
Of how alone and distanced we truly are…

Distanced to within seconds,
Everything is within reach…
Yet it’s all a facade,
About to burst at the seams…

Will we ever shatter the illusion?
Or are we bound for eternity now?
We are all seconds away,
But truly light years apart…

The lights flicker,
World continues to rotate…
As we continue to scroll,
I see the chains cast now…
I must shatter the mask,
To repel the void awaiting beneath the glow…
